Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Okanagan Wineries app ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

Description of Service

Okanagan Wineries is an iOS application developed by Skyline Apps that provides information about wineries across British Columbia, Canada. The App includes a winery directory, interactive map, personal tracking features (favourites, ratings, visit status, and notes), a wine tasting journal, a personal wine collection manager, and a trip planner.

Subscription and Premium Features

The App offers a free tier with core features including the winery directory, interactive map, search and filtering, visit tracking, favourites, ratings, and social sharing. Premium features — including unlimited tasting notes, unlimited wine collection entries, offline mode, trip planning, and advanced filters — are available through optional in-app subscriptions at $4.99/month or $29.99/year. Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's subscription terms.

Accuracy of Information

Winery information in the App — including operating hours, contact details, ratings, photos, amenities, and wine offerings — is sourced from third-party data providers and is provided for reference purposes only. While we make every effort to keep information accurate and up to date, we cannot guarantee its accuracy at all times. Wineries may change their hours, offerings, or availability without notice.

We recommend contacting a winery directly to confirm hours and availability before visiting.

Third-Party Services and Links

The App integrates with and displays links to third-party services including, but not limited to:

Google Places API — for winery data, photos, and ratings
Booking.com — for hotel and accommodation recommendations
Viator — for wine tour recommendations
OpenTable — for restaurant reservations at select wineries
Open Food Facts — for wine barcode lookups

Skyline Apps is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, content, products, services, or practices of any third-party service. When you access a third-party service through the App — whether by tapping a link, making a booking, purchasing a tour, or making a reservation — you are subject to that third party's own terms of service and privacy policy. We strongly encourage you to review the terms and policies of any third-party service before engaging with it.

Skyline Apps does not guarantee, endorse, or assume responsibility for any bookings, reservations, transactions, refunds, cancellations, or disputes arising from your use of third-party services accessed through the App. Any issues with third-party services should be directed to the respective service provider.

Affiliate Relationships

The App may include affiliate links to third-party services. This means we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase or booking through these links, at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence the information presented in the App or the order in which wineries or services are displayed.

Cloud Backup and Data Retention

The App offers optional cloud backup for your personal data, including winery tracking data, tasting notes, trips, wine collection entries, and associated photos. Cloud backup requires signing in with your Apple ID via Sign in with Apple.

Cloud backup is designed to protect your data when switching devices or reinstalling the App. Your data is stored on your device first and backed up to secure cloud servers (Google Cloud / Firebase). Local data on your device is always the primary copy.

Inactive Account Policy: If you do not open the App while signed in for 12 consecutive months, your cloud-stored data — including all tasting notes, trips, wine collection entries, and photos — will be permanently deleted. You will receive email notifications at approximately 10 months and 11 months of inactivity warning you of the upcoming deletion. To prevent deletion, simply open the App while signed in to your account. Deletion of cloud-stored data is irreversible.

Local data stored on your device is not affected by this policy. You may also delete your account and all cloud-stored data at any time from the App's Settings.

User Responsibilities

Do not rely solely on the App for navigation. Use appropriate mapping and navigation tools when driving to wineries.
Verify operating hours and reservation requirements directly with wineries before visiting.
Please drink responsibly and never drink and drive. Designate a sober driver or use alternative transportation when visiting wineries.

Intellectual Property

The App's design, code, and original content are the property of Skyline Apps. Winery names, logos, and related information are the property of their respective owners and are used in the App for informational purposes only. Place data and photos are provided by Google and are used under the Google Places API Terms of Service.

No Warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Skyline Apps shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of or inability to use the App, including but not limited to any damages resulting from:

Inaccurate winery information, hours, or availability
Bookings, reservations, or transactions made through third-party services linked from the App
Service interruptions or errors from third-party data providers
Loss of locally stored data
Loss of cloud-backed data due to account inactivity, account deletion, or service interruptions

Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.
