Introduction

Okanagan Wineries ("the App") is an iOS application developed by Skyline Apps that helps visitors discover and explore wineries across British Columbia, Canada. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to being transparent about our data practices.

Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. The App does not require an account, does not ask for your name, email, or any other personal data, and does not track your identity in any way.

Data Storage

All data you create within the App — including your favourites, star ratings, visit status, personal notes, tasting journal entries, wine collection, and trip plans — is stored locally on your device only. This data is never transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party. If you delete the App, this data is permanently removed.

Location Data

The App may use your device's location to show your position on the winery map and to calculate distances to wineries. Location data is processed on your device and is sent to Google Places API only when refreshing winery data. Your location is never stored on our servers or shared with any other party. You can deny location access and the App will still function — the map will simply not show your current position.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services:

Google Places API — Used to retrieve winery information, photos, ratings, and operating hours. Your approximate location is sent to Google when refreshing winery data. Winery data and photos are cached locally for up to 30 days per Google's Terms of Service. See Google's Privacy Policy.

The App may also display links to third-party services such as Booking.com, Viator, and OpenTable. Tapping these links opens your browser or the respective app — no data is shared with these services until you choose to interact with them directly.

Analytics and Tracking

The App does not use any analytics services, crash reporting tools, or tracking technologies. We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers, or any form of device fingerprinting.

Cached Data

The App caches winery information and photos locally on your device for up to 30 days to improve performance and reduce API usage. Offline downloads are also stored locally with a 30-day expiry. This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no personal information is collected, there is no risk of children's data being gathered or shared.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. If we introduce features that change our data practices (such as user accounts or cloud sync), we will update this policy accordingly and notify users through the App.
